A blogland craft project gone right!

Last week I ventured off to Goodwill to see if I could make a cute decoration thingy that I first saw on Thrify Decor Chick 's blog. Blog land has become something that I check like a ritual to see if there is anything cute that I think would go with our house-for cheap (of course!). Back to the project, so I found everything I needed (just like the Thrify Chick said) you can find this stuff at GW's anywhere & they are in abundance too!

I bought this cheese platter thingy for $3.99 at GW

And this candle holder for $1.99 (which I thought was pricey for GW, but went perfectly for what I was looking for!)

So I glued them together with E-6000, a common glue it together substrate used often in blogland. The cheese plate thingy is basically up on a pedistal (ie. the candle holder). & then I spray painted it Heirloom White or HW its Rustoleum brand and looks great!

I cleaned the glass & made these 'jute' wrapped styrofoam balls for really cheap with lots of materials left over. Found the little green, cool texture ball things from GW for $1.99 for a whole stick of them, I only used a few here & I'll probably find another use for them somewhere else too! & VOILA! Project finished :) Looks great in my opinion & it was cheap and fun!

See the 'jute' wrapped balls up close with the nice spikey green things!

I have a few other crafty-like things up my sleeve that use the jute & spray paint, but those are for another day! One of my bigger projects once we move in is to re-finish an antique buffet I found on Craigslist for $65! I can tell just by looking at it that it's gonna look awesome when I'm finished! Jake just wants me to stop the madness already, but he doesnt realize it just started! I get bored easily so I need to keep my self moving on to new things! P.S. I'm addicted to blog land and all things crafty on them :)

We did a drive by!

After we went for a run/walk at the park we headed over to drive by our house! We've officially done it 3 times since our inspection. I'm not sure what we think we will see, but we keep doing it. I think it's to see what our neighbors are like, the yard, etc since it was snowing when the inspection was going on so we couldnt get a good idea of the grass/landscape. When we pulled in the neighborhood and we passed the 3rd house on the right, Jake said, "Oh no, already!" I looked at him and he said, "that yard is already covered in dandelions. I hope our house isn't that way!". So as we got closer we slowed down to get a nice view of the yard, neighbors, etc all to find that our yard (in 15 days) doesnt have many dandelions (it has a few), but nothing like our neighbors. They have a million!! We are hoping that in those 15 days they dont spread to our yard. Does that happen? It was nice and quiet through the neighborhood-surpirsingly enough there werent many people outside on such a nice day. We discovered kids next door, well we didnt actually see them, but we saw evidence of outdoor toys everywhere. It kinda looks tacky, but I'm sure we'll understand sooner than later! :)
That's all for now, we are closing on the 19th & are moving in on the 26th. We've been packing for the past few weeks & getting things organized. Just some food for thought, I never thought about the fact that you have to buy a whole new lock for your front/back doors! Jake brought that up the other day & I was stunned! I guess I dont want any intruders or old family members of our sellers stopping by-so it would be a good idea. Just more money I knew would come with being a home owner. I'll put that on the list of curtains, shades, lawn mower, trash cans, weed eater, etc that we dont already have! I'll keep you posted on whats new & pictures to come shortly after we move in.

I'm still here...and here is all the random stuff updates

I'm still here! Just sometimes I really really feel like blogging and other times I dont feel like messing with it! Things have been great lately. We are coming up closer to our closing date-April 19th, but not fast enough :) We are getting final things in order. & we have started packing (yuck,-I hate packing)As for the past month...

At the beginning of March, I went on a 5 day retreat to Carmel, California on a work expense paid trip for meetings/enjoyment. Our hotel was right on the beach & was awesome. A bit chilly, but I'll take that over cold/snowy anyday (although this weather we are having now is awesome!). After returning back it was a long week of catching up on sleep and work! I've been starting more classes-so that has been keeping me busy & the days seem to fly by.

We signed up for a volleyball league starting in May & I'm so excited. Something about planned, fun, activity really gets me going :} When we dropped off the payment forms we found out it was SAND volleyball-even better & will remind me of our time playing VB in Cancun last year! We are venturing in with a new team-mainly Standefords, but with the help of two girls I knew from high school as well. I decided we should be in the rec league to save us me the headache of losing-so hopefully we can win! These people who sign up for things like this are serious....and I am, but I dont know if all of my team mates are!

The mini marathon is less than 40 days away & while I wont be able to run the entire thing (due to my lack of training this past month or two) I intend on running most (more than 8 miles) of it & I consider that a success for the amount of training that I have put in. I'll do another one...maybe in the fall & really train! I've realized that running isnt my favorite thing anymore...I like the more fun, competitive things with groups of people.

Jake's doing fine, struggling with sleep due to the crazy song happy birds outside our window, but thanks to the #2 setting on our box fan, it has been helping! He's mentally prepping himself for all the projects he already knows I want to do in the house & he keeps telling me, "honey, we arent even there yet, cant we just wait?". Well, in my eyes its ours so lets get a move on!

We went to our my favorite store now, Lowe's (or Home Depot, Menards, or Garden Ridge) you know any house-esque store with lots of ideas for change, and we I was looking at paint swatches & I said, "hey, I have to use the restroom...find me a light brown that you like and I'll be right back!" I got back from the RR & said, "what'd you come up with?" He looked at me like I was *dumb* and said...,"All these paint colors give me a headache & I dont know green from brown remember?!" (he's color blind & sometimes I forget) So, we laughed and left as we can leave that daunting task for another day! Sometimes I have blonde moments, then you think "Oh yeah"...oppps

Congrats, Mr. & Mrs. Jenkins!

Here they are! Cute as can be-MR. & MRS. MATT JENKINS!

We had a blast at the wedding. It was so awesome to be able to see Britt again and to finally meet Matt! Although it was just a nice to meet you-I've heard lots about you type of meeting, but we are planning on taking a trip down south in the summer to visit them and get to know Matt a little more! The reception hall was really neat and antique-like (just as I had pictured). Anyway, we had a ton of fun... can't wait until we can see you guys again! Hope you are having fun in Mexico!
